Meeting Aesclepius

This weeks meditation exercise was a good one to be able to visualize someone you really look up to and admire.  This part of the exercise was pretty simple to me.  I did have a hard time picturing a white light coming from different parts of her body and then into mine.  I am not sure why I struggle with type of thing, but I do. It is, however, getting easier for me to shut my mind off and clear it, which I am so thankful for. Each week I am noticing it is much easier to turn off my mind and really listen to exercises and being able to relax during them.

It is so important to meditate to help reduce stress and to better your health overall. I plan on putting on soft music and laying comfortably and letting my mind be completely clear for at least 20 minutes a day.  I have noticed I feel better all around since I started this class, but not where I want to be.

"One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself"  This is such a simple quote and one that is so easy to understand.  If you are not living the life you are trying to sell then it will be impossible to sell it. I would not take weight loss advice from an over weight doctor, would you? This also goes along with "practice what you preach."

You cannot lead a person into an integral lifestyle if you yourself have not been leading one yourself.

  1. Hello Heather!

Nice post. It is nice to see that the meditation practices are working for you, I have not really had the time to really soak in the exercises that we did in class. I have tried to enjoy them but I always have something running through my mind at the same time; I know that part of the whole idea of these exercises is to quiet the mind but I have a really hard time accomplishing that. It is nice to see someone setting time out during the day to relax, I seem to have trouble finding time to do anything more than work, school, and social obligations. Good luck on setting up your relaxation regiment!

Yes, one cannot teach someone something that they, themselves, have not experienced. This is because they do not have "true" experience on the subject at hand; they can only speculate on what the experience may entail. In my opinion, speculated experience can be more detrimental than just passing that person to someone that has true experience on the subject at hand. The biggest problem comes in the form of what the subject will experience during their experience with the subject matter. If a person has no experience with the subject then they cannot pull from life experience to help combat hurdles that the subject may encounter. This can lead to frustration and ultimately failure. Sometimes it is very hard to jump back into the saddle after a failure, some people never will. Thanks Heather!

  2. Good for you Heather -

I too feel better since starting this class. Learning more about meditation and putting it to use on a daily basis has really improved my daily life. I am also not where I want to be spiritually or physically, but I am on my way. Keep up on the daily practices, they really do make a difference in your life. Take care,
    Lauri
